In my knowledge, near all of the publications say the spin obtial coupling originates from the moving of a spin electron relative to a atom, and there are two mechanisms to induce SOC, i.e. the Rashba effect and the Dressalhaus effect. They are in the relation with the breaking of structure inversion symmetry either in macroscopy like a interface or in a crystal. I would like to know if the SOC could form if the Rashba effect and Dressalhaus effect were eliminated? In my idea, that is not excluded by the SOC origination principle.
