I am partial to the idea in a controlled trial. I do see where (from a molecular perspective) a significant part of the problem could be hyperactivation as you asked (and I contradicted) in another post regarding the immune system reaction (see https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04/03/science/coronavirus-genome-bad-news-wrapped-in-protein.html , particularly the protein responsible for "poking holes" in human cells and allowing the virus to silently escape and attack other cells). An important question. However, no current investigation has shown this suggestion...
It's pointless to ask this question to anyone who is not Romanian or has experience with Polidin.
I actually thought a lot about Polidin and while doing my immunology course I understand why it worked so well. It's not a 'vaccine' per say rather than a 'training factor' for the immune system.
Sadly it doesn't exist anymore because EU made sure to shut it down!!
The answer is YES while you consider it on the pathophysiology axis. Meaning, stimulating similar nonspecific immunity mecanisms should give similar results ! Whatever the vector, (and Polidin is a very potent one), that comes down to « trained innate immunity » and the protection would be mediated by stimulated long-lived MDSCs cells, many times reported inhibiting septic inflammation and mortality in several experimental models. That would reduce or even inhibit the sever lung inflammation/sepsis associated with COVID-19. So its a SED I'd say !:)
