Could anyone give valuable inputs of this strain nomenclature F-, Δ(araD-araB)567, ΔlacZ4787(::rrnB-3), λ-, ΔpotD783::kan, rph-1, Δ(rhaD-rhaB)568, hsdR514?. Actually I need only pot D mutant bacteria having kanamycin resistant!. This strain is mentioned on CGSC Strain as JW1109-1on yale stock culture center.
That is the genotype of bw25113 the parent strain of the knock-out collection. The only addition in JW1109-1 is ΔpotD783::kan. You can find additional information about each genotype on:

Hanna Alalam gave you good references to the strain. It is a very normal E. coli strain but if you want to know what the other genetic markers are, briefly this strain will not be able to use lactose, arabinose or rhamnose to grow. It will grow fine on other carbon sources like glucose or glycerol. And it is restriction minus so can accept foreign plasmid DNA. Otherwise it is pretty normal except for the potD deletion you are interested in.

The strain is deleted for the potD gene. You do not need to use kanamycin for selection but you can. The kan gene was used to replace the potD gene so the strain will be Kan resistant, but it is not a plasmid and is stable so you don't need to maintain continuous selection.
