I have a large amount of video from monitoring animals from different taxas and environments that needs to be processed through a data program to sort out events of interest. I need to customize the VMD area and the sensitivity, further it would be ideal if there is some tools for measuring the pixel changes (%) caused by the moving animals.
Hey Ronny, I am not sure if these are the kind of things you're looking for, but lately I've come to appreciate differencing and motion estimation methods. This is a good place to start, especially if you're familiar with Matlab:

In particular, I imagine that
Visual comparison of video and frame differences
and the
Video total motion (average speed) estimation
might come handy. There are also versions of these methods developed towards identifying the overall directions of motion. Let me know if you find these interesting or if you need some guidance to make them work on your videos. I am a beginner myself but I'd be glad to share whatever I've come to know.
