Ascorbate peroxidase APX is the most important specific peroxidase mediating H2O2 scavenging. It is mainly found in cytoplasm, mitochondria, peroxisome, chloroplasts.

The localization of such enzyme in the cell wall is controversial since many other peroxidases (class III) use ascorbate as substrate.
