Can anyone provide some relevant information on using column chromatography in separating phenolics from crude plant extracts? Is it ok to use silica gel or do I have to use another type of stationary phase when dealing with phenolics (my targets are phenolic acids and smaller flavonoids)? What solvent system is good for separation? Could you give me some pointers that I could test in the lab? If you have a good journal article to contribute, even better.
