I am conducting a survey and asking closed questions to understand the startup culture at University. I have segmented the complete survey in three parts and going to ask around 10-12 closed questions only.
1. The general attitude of students to the startup & Entrepreneurship
2. The current founding scenario at University
3. What would be the future possibilities/expectations of students to build the startup culture around the campus?
What kind of questions one can ask to carry out in-depth quantitative analysis?
Nayan - A startup culture is a workplace environment that values creative problem solving, open communication and a flat hierarchy. In a university culture, core values are typically informed by the identity of the university, including its vision and mission statement, teaching, research, extension and student services and staff support. I think that you should use the mixed method research choosing both quantitative and qualitative variables and also ask both open ended and closed ended questions since you are dealing with the general attitude of students to the startup & entrepreneurship, the current founding scenario at University and the future possibilities/ expectations of students to build the startup culture around the campus. This will make your study an in-depth analysis.
Indeed - have you thought of using Mixed Methods? - this might give you further insight into the survey data.
AS for your survey question - either based on the literature - or a pilot study - create items that give participants a scale of Strongly Agree - to - Strongly Disagree. Hope this helps.
Also - why are you restricting yourself in terms of the number of items?
This will need to be justfied in your methodology.
Also - don't forget to pilot your survey to ensure you are measuring what you intend to measure.
