When you say that Summer Schools are growing exponentially in Germany, do you have any data on this ?

Many times in US summer schools are used to catch up with course credit, as far as I know.

From your observation that summer schools in Germany are growing, I suspect that a trend is that (mainland) Europe is picking up on the US tradition of summer schools.

At the university where I used to work, the summer school is used as an instrument in internationalization. Especially with US universities, as the European (Erasmus) semester exchange model is less successful with them. A well developed summerschool program provides additional exchange possibilities.

By the way, are you talking about university level summer schools? Or also about summer schools in general?

We are planning to offer project-based learning, German industries & intercultural experiences to international students. In Germany, most of the universities using summer school as an instrument in internationalization as well. I truly agree. In fact, it is helpful for the students who participate and understand cultural differences. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this project and if there is an opportunity from your university to take part in an international summer school in Germany, please feel free to let us know. Thank you!

Yes, the possibility for participation in a summer school in Germany are quite good on my side as long as it has to do with Computing. I agree with Mr. Gilbert regarding internationalization. As a matter of fact I am leading 2 Erasmus+ collaborations between US and eastern Europe currently and hope to expand to more. Keep me posted.
