Hello, I am looking to perform a colorimetric protein assay (Bradford/BCA etc.) to compare the protein content of different potato varieties, but I would like to use a different model protein besides BSA and gamma globulin to prepare my standard curve. Are there any plant-based proteins that can be used for this purpose?
Also what criteria are needed to be fulfilled in order to select a non-established protein (i.e anything besides BSA) for use as a standard? Thank you!
Suggestion: Usually, if you are using potato as a test sample for protein estimation, then try to find out the various proteins present in potato by literature survey. The similar proteins can be used as a standard with known concentration and standard graph can be drawn. (Provided that proteins are colorimetrically stable and feasible)

Thank you for the response. I have looked into the potato protein fractions beforehand, but the most suitable candidate, the patatins, have different isoforms that show variations in molecular weight and is not pure and stable enough (not to mention lack of commercial availability). That is why I am looking for alternative plant proteins that could be used instead.
Colorimetric methdos, unless you are using as standard the same protein as in the problem solution, are stimations. Even if you are using a protein fro a vegetable source, the response you get in the spectrophotometer is just an equivalnece.
One method to proceed, is to use your own protein samples as standard if you can determine by Dumas or Khjledahl the crude protein content. Then, once you know the real protein content, you can do a calibration curve using this sample to estimate the protein content of all other samples.
