Hi,
I'm wondering if someone is using carbon filtered pipette tips for lipid analysis.
At the moment I extract lipids from bacterial cultures using methanol:chloroform and I use Hamilton syringe or glass pasteur pipettes to use these solvents: this ensures no contamination from the plastic but it's time consuming.
Does anyone have experience with chloroform-resistant tips?
I'm worried there could be a contamination in the MS analysis.

Your question has been discussed quite extensively already, so you are certainly not the first wondering:

In general the main tip remains: use glass, stainless steel or Teflon material when dealing with solvents like chloroform.
Furthermore it depends on the type of experiment whether it is an issue (short exposure to pipette tips is not always that important). To be on the safe side some use (see also the above link) these special tips:
