I am trying to electrochemically deposit gold on carbon fibres. The gold sticks for a bit on the fibres, but then it delaminates, apart from the ends (I guess it's because the current density is higher on the ends of the fibres?).

I think it's probably a problem of pretreatment. I had immersed and sonicated the fibres in either acetone or ethanol, but none of these methods work.

Any suggestions? A lot of papers do not mention the pretreatment of the carbon fibres prior to the gold deposition.

Thank you in advance for your help.
