Chitosan is the second most abundant bio-polymer after cellulose. It is made by treating the Chitin shells of shrimp and other crustaceans with an alkaline substance, like sodium hydroxide. The deacetylated Chitin derivative, Chitosan, is a very useful bio-polymer.
The chitosan solution must be prepared with water. You can prepare the plant extract with water, ethanol or any other solvent that have the best afinity with your plant (you must know that any solvent, except water, must be eliminated before use in your preparation). PS: hydrofilic extract plants are the better option to chitosan systems preparations.
