Need guidance!

I am seeking guidance on an unexpected result from my research on ramie fiber processing.

My process involves a two-stage degumming: chemical degumming first to make the ramie fibers more accessible to microbes and then biodegumming, which involves anaerobic microbes. As expected, the chemical pretreatment significantly reduced the content of lignin, pectin, hemicellulose, and residual gum compared to the fresh ramie.

However, after the biological degumming stage, my analysis shows a slight increase in the measured values of some components of biodegummed ramie as compared to the chemically pretreated sample.

My question is that is this phenomenon normal or could it be a possible mistake in testing method? What could be the plausible reasons for a measured increase in these components after a process designed to remove them?
