I am struggling with a CFD simulation with a constant wall temperature boundary condition so that the fluid gets heated up while flowing through the model. when I apply a constant heat flux the fluid gets heated up but when I apply a constant wall temperature, the fluid temperature jumps to the wall temperature at the start and stays constant throughout the simulation, I was expecting it to start slowly and heat up as the case of the heat flux, is there something am doing wrong?

Just try the same simulation with ANSYS Fluent with proper solid (wall) -fluid interface definition prior to meshing.

As I do not use Abaqus, I will just wild guess.
If your simulation just jumps into the same temperature value as the wall, when you prescribe Dirichlet condition, you are missing temperature outlet/inlet somewhere.
Something along the line... If I have a square domain and all boundaries have same fixed value, I should get rapidly quickly primitive solution everywhere.
If you changed the boundary on heat flux, von Neumann boundary condition, you will get to that same primitive solution slower. Set your heat flux simulation to steady-state and see what happens.
Hi Petr, thank you for our answer but you can only perform transient heat transfer in Abaqus and I have also specified the inlet temperature. I am still getting the same result.

I think the step of time is big enough to the heating to jump suddenly, if all of the other conditions were selected carefully. So, I advice to reduce the step size of time or decrease heat transfer coefficient if it is an input factor.
