The SL placement office provides booklet on issues re security; risks; procedures; completing online time log. We are interested in developing a training tool and quiz that would encourage students to first identity presuppositions and stereotypes they may have when volunteering with diverse community partners in our city, and learn more about potential social impacts of intersecting factors such as poverty; gender; colonialism, addiction, mental health (etc) to help foster students' empathy, active listening, communication and helping relation skills. A very good question! I have done some research on responsiveness to diversity among higher education students to include international students. Ironically the international students were more open to the diversity among the student body than the host-country students. They identified cultural insensitivity as being very prevalent during teaching sessions in the classroom. I am attaching a related article that I hope would helpful in your research.

I used a "Virtual TREASURE HUNT" for rapid adoption of NEW TECHNOLOGY in one organization to on-board a vast pool of naive and-reluctant employees to new technology enabled process. I found the outcomes from the Game based approach extremely satisfying on rapid pace of adoption with deeper comprehension than conventional option {like a booklet}.

I think it's important to do some research into the organisation you are going into placement with have the adequate measures in place to protect you will they pro odd training and encourage you to read their policies. Do you know What they do will you have proper and meaning ful supervision /supervisory meetings. Will you have a college lecturer supporting you throughout the placement. What are your learning g goals. A reflective journal or learning log what did I do today what went well what did not go well what would I do differentially. What can I bring to. The organisation can I enhance the life of those I am working with what area of work needs to be changed to meet the clients needs or demand
