I need to process some images from a Leica confocal microscope for 3D reconstruction of neurons, and although we have a license for the Huygens Software, I would like to try an open-source alternative and compare.
There's a very good tool for ImageJ called "DeconvolutionLab" from the EPFL (http://bigwww.epfl.ch/algorithms/deconvolutionlab/). I believe that's one of the best around with numerous settings, not unlike Huygens for some of them.
Once we compared Huygens (no commercial interest) with ImageJ and the blind deconvolution we got with Huygens was equal to the deconvolution with distilled PSF with ImageJ.
We have a Leica DM6000 deconvolution microscope and want to use blind deconvolution to examine peroxidase stained sections. Would either the Deconvolution Lab for ImageJ or the Huygens software be a good choice for this application.
