We are looking for an inverted fluorescent microscope capable of imaging fixed samples and live cells. We are situated in the Dominican Republic where to my knowledge support by most companies will be limited. Although I am very fond of the Zeiss Axio observer Z1, I have experienced it to need professional technical maintenance from time to time. That is why I am asking myself if we would be better off with an all-in-one system, like for example the Keyence BZ-X800 E or the Celena S.
Does anybody have experience with these or other all-in-one systems? Or could you recommend other low maintenance microscopes capable of live cell imaging?

Hi, I'm not sure what is your experience with Zeiss Axio Observer, but in my experience it is very robust and can work for years (ours is 8- years old, I think) without the need for any repairs (judging from the past service reports). Our centre has signed up for a 3-year maintenance contract before I joined in, which I find an utter waste of money - the engineers just do a bit of cleaning (that I can do as well as them) and check that everything works (which I need to do again after them as they in most cases mess up some settings (parfocal correction, camera image rotation, etc.). I saw Celena S and quite like it, but have no experience with its long term reliability and how likely it will need any repairs. Ithink the main advantage of such a system is the compact size and complete cover, which makes it suitable to be used in a general-purpose lab at normal ambient light and where dust could be more of an issue compared to a proper microscopy room with filtration of all incoming air. So, i would shape my decision around the space you have to house the microscope - will it be in a general-purpose lab or in a dedicated microscopy room?
Thank you Radek for your valuable feedback! I really liked the Axio Observer, however after the microscope installation we did have to have maintenance a couple of times. Possibly this was due to the many added extras it had? I just want to add that the Zweiss service in our region (Göttingen, Germany) was usually really good. Thank you for you comment on the Celena S as well. Defentitely a point to consider.
