Dear metereologists, sorry if this question is too basic, I'm just curious about it
So, I`ve seen some personal stations that capture temperature, humidity, wind speed and pluviometry continuously and send the data to your computer.
My question is: can you use these data to better predict the weather in your very specific location? Maybe in a simple model using only these data, or inputing it in a regional model (multiscale modeling) - but something I could run on my PC.
If you are good enough with local weather characterization and some ability in Synoptic analysis, yes definitely you can forecast.
following points need to be known
1. what is the normal rainfall , normal wind direction and mean max and minimum temperatures for a week, month or a season
2. if wind direction goes in which direction accompanies rainfall in your area?
3. how the temperatures behaving etc.
4. You can also refer to satellite cloud picture and the cloud moment monitoring the change the temporal cloud pictures
this kind of observations definitely help you in preparing a forecast in a synoptic way.
You have to develop your model based on the past data or you can use validated and calibrated model for this purpose. In addition as Dr Subarao pointed out some background of weather analysis is required. You can also integrate the idegenous traditional knowledge to make your forecast more accurate..
