I have done a path diagram that involves 5 observed variables. I'm wondering if I want to analyze the effect of gender on that diagram what analysis would I do? Thanks?
I suppose you hypothesized to examine the moderating role of gender on the relationship between two variables; If I am right, then you can conduct multi-group analysis using AMOS, LISREL , SmartPLS, or Mplus. It should be noted that before hypothesis testing you need to do Multi-group Invariance tests.
Thanks for your responses. I am very new to path analysis.
Here goes...I have a path analysis model which starts with controlling behaviour. This then leads to meaning violation, then meaning-making, then meaning made, and ends with meaning in life. I'm looking at the relationships between each of these observed variables (both the direct and indirect effects). My question is...how can I then examine the role of gender on this pathway? Do I have to do it as a moderation (thank you Alireza) or is there another way to examine gender on all the variables at once?
Hi Lianne, I think Alireza's suggestion is the best way to deal with this problem. An ANOVA does not make much sense, because then you would not be able to analyze the direct and indirect relationships between the variables. Which program are you using? How large is your sample size? Are the variables manifest or latent, and are they continuous or categorical?
Thanks Karin, I'm using AMOS for path analysis. I haven't collected data yet but I'm hoping for at least 300 participants. The variables are manifest and Likert scales (vary between 0-5 and 0-7). Thanks
