In the lab, there is titanium dioxide (TiO2, Sigma, purity 99.9%). Can I put it directly into the solution when using it in photocatalysis experiments? If I put it directly into the solution, the water becomes blurry and it becomes impossible for me to use the catalyst again. Because it's in powder form. In this case, the degradation efficiency gives very high results. Or do I need to convert it into a more visible particulate photocatalyst in solution so that I can use the photocatalyst again?
Dear Serhat Sezer , have you tried to perform centrifugation on your solution with the catalyst? You can separate the powder catalyst from the solution, and also perform FTIR before and after the photocatalytic process.

If you use TiO2 directly ,after short time your calyst agglomerated and the yield reduce.Therefore ,the best way is introduce TiO2 onto substrate.

Yes you can use TiO2 directly for photocatalysis reaction. TiO2 is one of the best photocatalyst. You will find thousands of papers on TiO2 as photocatalyst. Once your reaction is over centrifuge the solution, wash the TiO2 particles and then calcine at 300 degree Celsius to regenerate the catalyst and then use again.
It may look like a blurry solution as it might be forming a colloidal suspension. But not to worry. You can centrifuge the catalyst after the reaction.

I think TiO2 powder will give better results after calcination. Sometimes having problem in preparing dye solution or any other model pollutants which you are applying so you have to used deionized water at every step.
Yes, we can use commercially ly available TiO2 for the degradation of pollutants. As it has a wider bandgap approx. 3.2 eV falls in the UV region, so this point keeps in mind when dyes selection.
However, the percentage of degradation may vary as the size of TiO2 particles may differ. So, you better compare these results with prepared TiO2.
