i doing a project on dye sensitized solar cell, i'm making my own transparent conductive oxide glass by coating the glass substrate with tin oxide using microscopic glass slides as glass substrate and SnCl2 amorphous powder dissolved in ethanol as precursor solution. can we use a mist spray atomizer to spray the precursor solution on the substrate?
yes you can use poor quality nozzle spray, but your film my be not uniform and the thickness of your deposited film my be not regular, so you should measure the thickness at different positions and take the average.

The quality of the film ultimately depends on the droplet size and a good nozzle with very fine tip gives uniform droplets of very fine size. Then it does not matter, whether it is purchased or home made.
If yo use poor quality nozzle for spray deposition the rate of solvent evaporation may be slower because of large droplet size which can create unwanted pinholes and voids in the deposited film. To overcome such problems you can use nanoparticles precursor, so that the nanoparticles of the films combine to form smooth and dense thin films.
