I'm working on HGT of colistin resistance in E.coli. Is In most of the papers, E.coli J53 is used, I don't have that strain , can I use DH5-alpha for this purpose. Normally E.coli J53 has sodium azide resistance as a marker, that is why it is prefered. DH5-alpha has kenamycin resistance and nalidixic acid resistance, but my donor strains are resistant are MDR, is it still okay to use DH5-alpha?
