I am looking for green synthesis of ferrites. I have earlier worked on hydrothermal and co-precipitation methods for synthesis of metal ferrite. I have seen many articles on green synthesis of nanoparticles as for iron nanoparticles. How can I get to know which plants have which contents for preparing nanoparticles?Do we need to add metal ions precursors to plant extract ? or plant extracts can have constituents too? Can somebody suggest some good studies on green synthesis of ferrites? or how can i prepare ferrites by more novel methods.

I work with hexaferrites through the synthesis route that uses coconut water as a solvent, I only add the nitrate precursors. I'm getting nanoparticles successfully. Follow work to verify the synthesis route used:
"Hopkinson effect, structural and magnetic properties of M-type Sm3+−doped SrFe12O19 nanoparticles produced by a proteic sol-gel process";
"Disorder of Fe(2)O5 bipyramids and spin-phonon coupling in SrFe12O19 nanoparticles".

Higher plants' extracts or fresh, finely crushed leaves can be used as they have a number of enzymes including the oxido-reductases. Identify the chemical reaction involved and mimic it by biological resources.

In chemical methods only to produce IronMNPs you should add a base as usual to progress the reaction like Co-precipitation or Sol-gel and so on. but, in Green synthesis you do not add a chemical reagent like base to iron mixture, youre on to add plant extract to the mixture and wait for producing the MNPs then take the further characteristics. its a common and useful method.

You can prepare metal ferrites using one of the simplest, cheapest as well as green methods like oxidation-reduction by photons. According to this procedure the salts of metals are dissolved up to appropriate dilution and run this experiment with excess of air through air pump and set the pH of 5.5 (monitor at 5.5 after 5 hours) for couple of weeks in ordinary light without adding any plant extract. With the passage of time the precipitates of metal ferrites are observed. On the other hand, results can also be obtained by repeating the same procedure without pH monitoring in the presence of sunlight.
You can try using any plant extracts which their constituents rich in polyphenols and flavonoids this contains OH and C=O groups. May you try Tilia or Ginkgo Biloba plant extracts for an example. It's preferable to add the metal ion precursors to plant extract under the continuous stirring at a mild temperature from 50 to 90 C degrees at least for 15 minutes at ratio 1:5 (metal ion: plant extract) for example. If you had observed a visual change in the color of solutions, it is the first indication of nanoparticle formation. You can also, try at different pH solutions if the plant extract as is did not give an indication for nanoparticle fabrication. Maybe have a look at my reference paper
