No. Human beings have been around approximately 300, 000 years. The Neanderthals were around much longer. Homo Erectus survived for at least 1 million years. All died out. At some point, we will too. A rapidly responsive virus could exterminate billions and because our cultues are built on and dependent on numbers we could all go as a consequence.
