To reduce the computational cost, we normally solve any systems for quarter / half of the domain. Is it possible to reproduce / generate animation containing full body from the solved results?
In COMSOL 4.3b, after you obtain your solution for the half or quarter symmetry this very easy: For half symmetry build a new dataset by creating Mirror 3D node via: Data Sets -> More Data Sets -> Mirror 3D. For a quarter symmetry, you repeat once more by using the data of the previous and mirroring relative to the transverse plane.
this is done on ansys cfd post while in comsol 4.3 you can do it directly through main menu options in which you directly do you full body animation as well you can take all as in a MS word report file as well.
If you have symmetric domain and symmetric boundary conditions then you must have symmetric solution to the heat problem (as a solution of Laplace or Poisson equation). This is not true for fluid dynamics. You can find an asymmetric solution here.
