As we all know world population will rise from 7.5 billion to 9.5 billion in 2050 and that will increase the total global food demand from 50 % to 97% according to FAO . What is your perspective regarding this question in present situation ?

Sure, in order to fulfill the food and feed demands of growing population, we have to move towards vertical expansion i.e. to increase the yield per unit area.. In developed countries, focus should be given on enhancing the yield potential of germplasm, as the yield gap is narrow in developed countries.. While in developing countries, the major challenge is to reduce the yield gap (which is up to 80% in some African countries)...
