I am currently working on biomass burning aerosols over South East Asia. Can someone suggest me if there is any method to compute emission factors using satellite datasets alone?
It is possible just like the satellite data gathered from the missions from a volcano and other earth erruptions. However, the data collected could have many sources of uncertainty.
Source apportionment methods exist for carbon (soot) and other atmospheric emissions. They are computationally complicated but advances in inverse methods are documented in the literature. Pull references by Daven Henze to obtain a good sense of what the state-of-the-art is.
