Is there a perfect education system (I mean compulsory education here, up to about age 15) that does everything we want it to. First we have to decide what we want. I want:
1. At the end of compulsory education for each student to still believe that they are capable of learning.
2. At the end of compulsory education for each student to enjoy learning.
3. Each student to have developed their knowledge and skills as far as they were capable in their time at school.
For this to happen I think the system needs a redesign. My perfect system would:
1. focus on personal growth in ALL its constructs (curriculum, assessment, pedagogy, language, corporate and school climate etc.
2. support teachers in their personal growth as educators.
3. accept the critical importance of incorporating the psychosocial side of pedagogy. (psychological needs satisfaction, sociological impact on values and beliefs)
What do you think makes a perfect system?
