Is genomics in Anesthesia practice evolving? When will genomic testing be part of the pre-anesthesia work up?
Simon Body published an interesting paper in 2009 but I haven't seen the conversation continue. I'm wondering if anyone in the community is working in this area.
Looks worthless as the the drugs has all parameters studied from mechanism of action to metabolism and excretion some genomic alteration are seen in metabolism like slow acetylators and fast acetylators nothing else

Sir, Please review the following references. Perhaps these may inform your future responses on this topic. Advances in genomics are being made by leaps and bounds. I attended a lecture 17 days after posting this question, I am energized by the current and near future implications.

This is an interesting subject, although I am not in this field.
However, I am wondering if a patient was send to the emergency room for operation (ex. car accident), do the doctors still have time to do a proper 'genomic analysis' for the patient before performing anesthesia and operation??

Very good question. What if your genomic analysis was performed or ordered at a primary care visit and alread on record? Of course, in the situation you presented, it would not be feasible to perform genetic testing at that time. Thank you for your thoughts.

Yes, I believe one day we can achieve this when citizens' genomic/epigenome infomation analyses are performed and stored in a national database. So, once a patience arrives, doctors can get the info in a jiffy. I recently watched a movie called 'Blade Runner 2049'. It involves some of this concept. A pretty good movie.
In the future, a lot of disease treatments will become 'individualized', including the use of the red-hot CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Recent report indicates that for a better treatment with CRISPR/Cas9 technology, a person's genomic data needs be known in advance (including SNPs). Only with these data, the patients can get the best results from this technology's treatment.
