Many of you can relate to my current situation. I am inundated with e-mail requests for manuscripts, speaking engagements, manuscript review and most recently, chapter authorship.
One does not want to pass on an opportunity to disseminate research or project findings.... But how to distinguish between opportunity and predatory "scholarship"?
I looked into two speaker requests to find that the speaker fees were greater than the attendee fee. Outrageous!

In order to check your journal(s) you kindly have to visit one or all of the links below and checking its metrics, otherwise, it is fake journal(s).

To avoid predatory journals, I have found these strategies very useful:
1. Overly generic themes of journals sometimes rings a bell
2. Poor organization of website content
3. Poor organization of papers in the journal (poor grammar, sentence construction, a lot of discrepancies in the research papers in the journal)
4. Lack of peer review systems with overly fast periods
5. An untruthful claim of impact factors or metrics
6. Failure to have assess to the emails and personal websites of members of their editorial teams to confirm their certifications and affiliated institutions
7. High article processing fees with great focus on the payment rather than the state of the paper
8. Discuss the journal with experienced researchers on academic communities and platforms such as RG, AuthorAid etc.

Although the original Beall's list web site (scholarly-oa.com) does not host the list anymore, I have recently come across a web site

which claims to build on and expand the Beall's list (see https://predatoryjournals.com/about/ ).
