USA doesn't seem to be in a position to end Russia-Ukraine war by itself because Trump doesn't inspire confidence and behaves undiplomatically like a bully. So, neither Russia nor Ukraine trust him. But the US efforts to end war are praiseworthy.
The war in Ukraine is, for the US-Russia relations, more of a nuisance than the core. In Alaska, for example, the delegations spoke also about Russia's interest to participate in Musk's Mars missions. More info in this video: https://youtu.be/lBwRBmOTqno?si=YBDvjS4r1Yr8FnXu
Russia's call for Ukraine to give up the remaining Donbas territory, to abandon NATO insistence, and Western troop presence; then to agree to freeze the front line. Ukraine rejects any compromise of territorial concessions for a ceasefire, insisting rescission of Russian forces, full autonomy and sovereignty, and "strong security guarantees," and reinforcing the President Zelenskyy's 10-point peace they reminded the world about, which includes a commitment to restore borders from 1991, accountability for war crimes and the safety of nuclear power plants. The U.S. serves as a prominent arbiter and delivered a founding piece on a comprehensive peace, although the risk of Russia erasing any peace is limited with President Putin's refusal to negotiate any peace without Ukrainian neutrality, while President Zelenskyy's government has refused to compromise on sovereignty. In the absence of a dynamic shift militarily away from either side or a willingness to broker peace, Washington remains limited in their ability to end the war, although continuing to remain important to shaping what future security arrangements will look like for both countries.
Dear Ali Saadi Abdulzahra Jubeir, everything depends on how much the US and, ultimately, the president Trump gains from achieving peace. This is without considering the fact that it was Russia that invaded Ukraine, ignoring its 1994 border commitments, guaranteed by the US and UK, and international law and regulations. The US, under Trump, has betrayed its European allies and reneged on the guarantees given to the Ukrainians in 1994.
Russia attempted to invade Ukraine on February 24, 2022. 2,000 Russian paratroopers attempted to occupy Kiev's airport, and 64 kilometers of Russian tanks attempted to occupy Kiev.
The goal was to overthrow the legitimate, democratically elected Ukrainian government and establish a pro-Russian dictatorship similar to that of Belarus.
This attempt failed thanks to the courage of the Ukrainians, their government, and their army, aided by Western democracies (primarily the USA, UK, Canada, and the EU), which provided humanitarian aid, imposed sanctions on Russia, and sent weapons and intelligence.
India, the world's largest democracy by population, sided with Russian totalitarianism and did not impose sanctions against the Russian invader.
To say today that Ukraine and the West attacked Russia is equivalent to saying that the Amritsar or Jalianwala Bagh Massacre of 1919 (when General Reginald Dyer's troops opened fire on an unarmed crowd, killing 379 and wounding approximately 1,200) was caused by Indians attacking the British army.
Today, we witness helplessly the U.S. about-face, effectively siding with Russia.
Every people has the right to self-determination and to democratically elect their own leaders.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Conference seems to have definitively established that Tramp's policies are aberrant, bizarre, unfair, and counterproductive.
Trump has failed:
• peace in Ukraine and Gaza;
• he has betrayed his European and global allies, with the exception of Israel;
• he has imposed tariffs that will be 86% paid by the Americans themselves;
• he has delegitimized and continues to delegitimize supranational organizations (UN, WHO, ICC, etc.);
• he has effectively handed the keys to the new world order to Xi Jinping;
• he denies climate change and the need to replace fossil fuels, wherever possible, with renewable energy: photovoltaic, wind, hydroelectric, etc.;
• he is increasingly impoverishing the less well-off and the middle class in favor of the richest.
Proof of this is that:
• the joint declaration calling for respect for "sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity," which was signed unanimously, even by Putin, despite his violation of these cardinal principles of peaceful coexistence for three and a half years in Ukraine;
• the détente between India and China, which could transform into an alliance, bringing together two very different countries that together represent three billion people, a third of the world's population;
• the unequivocal defense of supranational organizations (UN, WHO, ICC, etc.) is currently the prerogative of "totalitarian countries" or so-called "totalitarian democracies" rather than fully fledged democracies.
Countries who kept egging and pushing Ukrainian president towards a war and to keep fighting against Russia for their own business interests and to please arms manufacturing industry. In the process Ukraine suffered and destroyed itself.
India has taken a clear and unambiguous stand that the war is not a solution in 21st century and both countries are India's
