Hello, all i am currently working on polymeric nanoparticles and ,I have prepared one polymeric nano formulation of which I did SEM analysis. After doing the SEM analysis the morphology of unencapsulated nanoparticles was found to be Rod shape and that of drug encapsulated nanoparticles was found to be spherical-ellipsoidal and particles were agglomerated . Is the change of morphology in nanoparticle possible after encapsulating it with drug. Thank you in advance for any help

You mentioned "agglomeration" (aggregation), need to check the charge (ZP) of your drug and nanoparticles.
With respect of morphology variations before and after encapsulaion, yes that happens sometimes. Need more info from your side to ellaborate.
Thank you sir for your help, actually I am working on Alginate/chitosan based nanoencapsulation in which I am encapsulating a plant extract, so after encapsulation , I observed the agglomeration of nanoparticles in SEM images and the morphology was also changed little bit. if possible could you please help me with some reference for the same so can know the possible reasons for the same and can improvise the formulation. Thank you in advance for the same.

To the best of knowledge the plant extract has plenty of chemicals other than the desired active ingredient the main reason for this phenomena might be because the interaction between the drug and your polymeric composite, since alginate and chitosan have bonding sites with charges there might be because of that on the other hand the definition of encapsulation is the spherical shape to lower the steric and electronic hindrance the composite rathers this type of conformation.
