I am about done writing a paper on a new process modification for ozonation to prevent bromate formation. There are a number of methods described in literature which uses different modifications to the ozonation process that inhibits one or more steps in the undesired step-wise conversion of bromide to bromate (bromate is cancerous). We recently compared the effectiveness of all the methods mentioned in literature using water from one source, but this water had a quite atypical matrix composition so it is difficult to generalise. Therefore I am interested in testing my new process on raw water from waterworks that actually deal with this problem. Does anybody know of references to actual use of bromate prevention methods in waterworks?
