I for a way in creating a 3d smooth plot like a heat map with peaks in matlab.
As x coordinate I have the longitude (gps coordinate)
as y coordinate I have the latitude (gps coordinate)
and as Z coordinate I have the electrical field strength. I am looking for a map like this one?
can someone give me some advice. There is no equation for describing the relation between the x,y and z values, since they are measured data?

Assume 3 vectors in matlab, say x has longitude values, y has latitude values, and z has electric field values.
Step 1: follow link provided by Mr. Hilal to get an equation of electric field (z) in terms of x and y. This is data fitting.
Step 2: prepare a mesh grid. [X,Y]=meshgrid(x,y);
Step 3: Z=whatever equation you got in terms of x and y. Note that Z is the obtained equation and z is the vector that you used during data fitting.
Step 4: surf(X,Y,Z).
Should give you what you want. If you need an example. Goto matlab documentation and search meshgrid.

You can increase the resolution of the mesh by interpolating values ... for example, using algLib -> rbf models. If you want a smoother surface, you may need surface fitting. In any case, I would plot it programmatically using opengl and c++ :)
