I have been working with a microlepidoptera pest identified as Glyphipterix sp. The larvae of this moth attacks a tuberous crop, achira Canna edulis, in the Andean region in Colombia. Larvae consumes young leaves and prevents the normal leaves unfolding process. When damage is severe in some clones of achira a rooting process is evident with a potential dead of the plant. And I recovered the parasitoid from this moth.
This might then be an undescribed species. The genus has not been revised in South America, and it is greatly diversified in tropical areas examined so far. There are about 20 species reported so far in the Neotropical area (most in Central America) but there are actually many more to be described. No one is reported to parasitize a Glyphipterix moth.
