The samples are replicates (4) of total RNA from HEK-293 T cells. The ladder is a 1kBp ladder on a 1% native agarose gel buffered with 1x TAE. From my searches, there should be two sharp bands at around 5 and 2 kBp corresponding to 28 and 18S rRNA. However, the bands don't correspond to the sizes.
You've had a relatively good extraction: no obvious smear, sharp 18s and 28s bands. The 5/8s bands are also visible: the faint bands at the bottom. I propose you to use the RNA samples within a week, since their quality decreases quickly, even if they are frozen.
Arman Rahimmi Thanks for your answer. 28S should correspond to 5kBp and 18S to around 2kBp but the prominent bands correspond to 3 and 2 kBp respectively wrt to the ladder.
@ Indresh RNA is a single stranded whereas DNA is a double stranded structure. Moreover, RNA also forms secondary structures. Therefore RNA runs faster as compared to DNA. Run an RNA ladder along with your RNA samples to get the precise size.

If you used 100 bp ladder, you will get similar result. Simply due to the fact that you are comparing wrong things. If you want to compare something you must use the similar thing. In this case, use the ladder which include the range of bands you want to visualize. The comparison in your gel is absurd.
