Consider a situaltion: an adult child has her/his own chidlren needing childcare. This adult child regularly gets assistance from her/his parents in form of granparental childcare. Do you know any empirical studies about intra-familial payment for grandparental assistance (compensation, monetary reward for childcare)?
I have found some information, e.g. in Folk (1994) or in Wheelock and Jones (2002), but I am particulary interested in contemporary European statistics (especially, Germany).

Nataliya, please help me understand your research. Are you referring to older adults whose grown children/child cared for them as caregivers and did the older parents pay them? Dear Jan Vinita, the second one. Let us assume three generations Grandparents G1- Adult chidlren G2 - their children G3. Grandparents G1 helped their children G2 and provided grandparental childcare to their grandchildren G3. Adult chidlren G2 paid grandparents G1 for the childcare.
Hi Nataliya, Thank you for that clarification. It is the monetary payment of CHILDCARE you are investigating, correct? Are you specifically looking for cash payments? I am thinking of compensation to the GGPs and GPs in the form of non-monetary payments and reciprocal exchanges such as buying their food, paying for transportation, paying their rent, trips, etc. Or is it only cash payments you are investigating? Yes, I am mainly interested in monetary payment for childcare, but such indirect forms like paying their rent or trips are OK as well.
I am analyzing data from representative German survey, there are two questions capturing fairness preferences of the people. Shortly, is it fair that the offspring who provided long-term care receive higher inheritances in exchange? Is it fair that grandparents receive monetary compensation for childcare?
So, now I am trying to find some empirical evidence that grandparents are paid for chidlcare.
