In the 60s, there were East and West Germany. Which one or both should you like?

During 60's the German Economy was in transition from becoming much better in West Bundes part and communist controlled in GDR (German Democratic Republic) part. This was also a start of large immigration to West Germany (Bundes part), which started to change the demographics of the land and brought many different cultures and traditions with it..

but I need informations such as why Germany was successful exporter, i now that some of reasons is they produced high valuable products, but i don´t have information how technology was developed. Then I need information about productivity, investments, GDP...
