I have noticed that many papers applying SEM PLS have many more independent variables (IVs) than dependent variables (DVs). Is there any particular reason for this?
Would it be problematic to formulate a model in which I have 1 IV (a formative construct) with several DVs? Please share with me an example, preferably within business research. Thanks in advance.
Can SEM PLS be used with many dependent variables (DVs)?
SEM PLS is one of the second generation multivariate analysis techniques that can handle more complex IVs, Latent Variables (LVs) and DVs in a research model. As its name suggests, "multivariate" also can handle more than 1 DV. It is possible for a research model to have 1 IV & multiple DVs. For an example you can refer to this article of mine in RG:
