SDI meter possesses both flow meter and pressure gauge. We just have to add our membrane in the membrane holder. My concern is that can we use this meter for membrane filtration study (to measure flux rate, rejection rates and fouling properties.)
I know that it provides values at 5 min, 10 min and at 15 minutes (As per ASTM standards), but is there any way to use it for the complete membrane study?

SDI value is only an indicator for the water quality of the inlet of RO system. It can also indicate the pretreatment effect of UF\MF\MMF\SF\ACF processes. It is just a value, but the the complete membrane study is more complicated than it. So SDI value can not be used as the only indicator for the whole membrane system. Such as TMP( Tans-membrane Pressure) are used to indicate the fouling of the membrane surface during the operation. NTU is another value to indicate the qulity of UF effluent quality.
It's a novel idea to indicate the membrane system operation. You can try it. But I have no idea to fulfill this indication.
Jiangtao Fu Thank you for your kind response. Actually i will not use SDI value for my membrane study. During membrane testing, we require a filter holder, a flow meter and a pump and SDI meter has all of these things. So, regardless of SDI index, can I use SDI meter to control flows, pressures and everything for my nano filtration membrane studies. Kindly guide me about your opinion.
