I would like to store adipose tissue (from Wistar rats) in RNA later but have heard that the reagent cannot be used to stabilise RNA in adipose tissue due to the high abundance of fat.
In fact i don't have experience using RNA later for adipose tissue, but i use it for storing rat's brain several time. As brain consist of considerable amount of fat i think RNA later generally works for adipose tissue.
I work with human adipose tissue for my dissertation research, and I have found that RNA Later does work fine, but I find that just flash freezing a small piece of the tissue or directly homogenizing in Trizol works better in terms of RNA quality at the end.
