It has been already been known that muscle fibre type can be determined by using several methods such as: muscle biopsy,proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) etc. However these methods are expensive (1H-MRS) and invasive (muscle biopsy). That's why I am wondering about we can determine muscle fibre types by using blood work (plasma carnosine concentration).
How would that work? Because your measurements are coming from plasma, at best you might be able to predict what percentage of the body's entire skeletal muscle is one fiber type versus another. Furthermore, muscles are not homogenous in fiber type and fiber type percentages vary from one muscle to the next.

Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. There is a fitness test titled “%1-RM Test to Estimate Muscle Fiber Composition” . Some authors argued that Type II muscle fiber types contain carnosine much more than Type I muscle fiber. I am planning to apply this test to my research subjects. Plasma carnosine level will also be measured before and after %1-RM Test (pre to post)
If I can find a positive correlation between %1-RM test score and plasma carnosine level, I can say that plasma carnosine level which obtained after a kind of fitness test can be used for estimation typ II fiber ratio.
