Can one use an alternate cell line like HEK (Human Embryonic kidney) to study the inclusion bodies caused in brain?

One of the research papers have used HEK cells instead of neuronal cell lines like N2a to study the effect of SOD aggregates causing toxicity.

Is it possible to study non-tissue specific cell lines to study the tissue related mechanisms?
