Most model for chemotaxis are flagellated bacteria. Im just wondering how this non-motile organisms adapt to starvation or repellent. If you can provide me some journal article that would be better. Thank you!
It is difficult to find information on this subject, suggesting that the presence of flagella and chemotaxis are significantly related to each other.
An interesting observation was made by Samad et al., who demonstrated that non-flagellated bacteria (in this case Staphylococcus spp.), can gain motility by hitchhiking on swimming bacteria. In this way, non-motile bacteria could react to stressful/ starvation conditions by co-translocating with motile bacteria that are capable of chemotaxis to e.g. source of nutrients.
