In some cases, it is difficult for a decision-maker to express an explicit approximation of the preference function. Therefore, it can be effective to allow the decision-maker to choose from a palette of solutions. To this end,an algorithm is used to determine a representation of the Pareto optimal set. Such methods incorporate a posteriori articulation of preferences, and they are called cafeteria or generate-first-choose-later approaches.
