Although the myriad benefits of machine translation have long been known to the practitioners involved in translation studies, there are certain controversial issues that cannot be ignored. As an illustration, the byzantine complexities of figurative language requiring human involving cognitive processing cannot be handled by present translation software. As such, human intervention, at least for the time being, seems to be inevitable.

In case of a few languages, i presume, yes. A lot of work has been done on some languages including English, Spanish, Arabic and the way AI is flourishing, it seems that in a score or so Machine would be able to translate accurately.
I don't think so because of the polysemous words. One English word may have so many meanings. The machine is still unable to choose the right meaning in the right context.
It is very hard to imagine that one day machines can think and talk like human beings. The most important challenges for machines are to recognize emotions and to grasp pragmatics aspects of language. There have been some experiments regarding programming robots but the results were not completely satisfactory since machines cannot communicate well with extra linguistic elements that may be very crucial in translating texts from one language to another.
