I already know that file; the example in this paper is with point data. I'm not sure if is correct to use this statistic with line feature like drainage network.

It exactly depends on your study objectives.

Getis-ord can distinguish your possible high/high high/low and low/low clusters. it doesn't measure the density exactly.
