The paradigm of research is scientific. So, I will conduct pre-post test to investigate the effect of humorous videos on english idiom learning. Also, i will conduct closed questionnaire to reach the learners' attitudes toward using humorous videos.
My questions are:
1/ Is there a mistake if i use the following words "investigate the effectiveness" as the main aim of my research although it is scientific?
2/ Is there a mistake if i use closed questionnaire to reach the learners' attitudes toward using humorous videos?
This depends on how you are going to define 'effectiveness' in your writing.
Will you define effectiveness? What will effectiveness mean to you?
You might want to use the word 'Effect' - what effects do these videos have on idiom learning?
No - using a closed questionnaire is perfectly valid to measure attitudes.
However - you might want to consider follow up semi-structured interviews to gain further insights into these closed questions.
