We want to transform tomato using in planta procedure (fruit injection and floral dip) . We want to use AGL1 strain of Agrobacterium. But this strain is recommended for monocots and it is hypervirulent strain. Do we have problems with this strain or not?
If someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Agrobacterium tumefaciens AGL1 can work fine for you for tomato. Actually, there is not trouble if your plant is monocot or dicot for Agro-transformation, the only problem is if your plant is suitable for Agro-transformation.

1. You should be able to use AGL1 for tomato genetic transformation, but the transformation efficiency might be reduced compared to that from using other Agrobacterium strain, such as GV3101. Please see this article from the link below: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23099543

2. Bear in mind, different cultivar/genotype can also impact the transformation efficiency. The above info is based on cultivar Micro-Tom.
