Can I prepare Nile Red form Nile Blue if I boiled it with sulfuric acid ?

Currently I am working on staining microplastic with a fluorescent dye. All papers talk about staining with Nile Red, but I have Nile blue in my lab now and thinking of converting it to Nile Red is this applicable or useless ?

Hello Nadia,

It is hard to confirm or deny, authors use 100 % of the Nile red and not the result of a reaction. Otherwise, you can test it and measure its efficacity!

In the following paper, they added DAPI to Nile Red in order to estimate the staining degree... They found that the use of 100% of Nile Red is the best option always:
